Information: James Weldon ""Jim"" Bryant, 69, of Ripley, a retired aluminum worker and farmer, died at home, Saturday, June 1, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 14, 1932, in Canvas WV, a son of Jennings and Thelma Neil Bryant. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1951, and was a member of the United Steelworkers of American Union, Local 5668. He was retired from Century Aluminum Corporation with 33 years of service with Kaiser Aluminum and Century Aluminum. He was a member of the Peniel United Methodist Church. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet ""Jan"" Bryant; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Diane Bryant of Washington; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Casto of Ripley; two grandchildren, Isaac Casto and Amy Beth Casto of Ripley; one brother, Charles Bryant of Parkersburg; and one sister, Jo Ruth Hall of Grand Ledge MI. He was preceded in death by his father, Jennings Bryant; his step-father, Don Hall; his mother, Thelma Hall; and his foster sister, Jessie Sayre. Services were Tuesday at the Vail Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley, with the Rev. Dr. John D. Hardman officiating. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery in Ripley.
