Information: Brown, Warren Dean Mr. and Mrs. Holly Brown, of Ravenswood, left last Saturday for Iowa to attend the funeral rites for their son, Pfc. Dean Brown, which will be held at the National cemetery in that state. The son was killed in Europe during World War II and the parents requested his body be returned for interment in a National Cemetery in the country. (Friday, 26 Aug 1949) Brown, Warren Dean Aug. 29, 1949: Dear Sir: I am writing to ask you to make a correction in your paper of August 26. The item is in regard to the Brown funeral. Our son, Warren Dean Brown, was not a Pfc. He was in the Navy, Fireman First Class, on the LST # 387. His ship was on a secret mission and was torpedoed. It was a flagship. It was not at our request that he be brought back to a National Cemetery, as we would have much preferred having him brought home for burial, but owning to it being a mass funeral, the Government had full authority and the parents had no say as to what they preferred. Everyone in Keokuk, Iowa was very kind to us and it is a grand place. Truly yours, Mrs. Hollie M. Brown. (Friday, 9 Sept 1949)
