Information: Lewis Roscoe Brotherton, 85, of Cottageville, Jackson County, died Thursday in Charleston General Hospital. Born March 22, 1888 in Jackson County, the son of the late James T. and Regina Smith Brotherton, he was a retired employee of the State Dept. of Highways. He was a member of the Cottageville A.F. and A.M. Lodge, No. 54; the Cottageville Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 16; the Jackson Chapter, No. 48, Royal Arch Mason, Ravenswood; and the Dowell Commandery No. 28, K.P. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Valeria Powers of Ripley, Mrs. Regina Skeen of Kentuck and Mrs. Mary Rawlings of Charleston; four sons, James R. of Lexington, Ky., Neil B. of Cincinnati, John of Charleston and Roscoe R. of Maysville; one sister, Mrs. Agatha Hatfield of Gilbert; and 25 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Casto Funeral Home, Evans. Burial will be in the Fisher Cemetery with Masonic Graveside rites. An Eastern Star service was held Saturday at the funeral home.
