Information: HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO OFFICIAL-Virgil Morris, Deputy Sheriff Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack at His Home Saturday - FUNERAL SERVICE AT GAY MONDAY - Was One of This County's Most Highly Respected Citizens - Virgil T. Morris, 64 year old deputy sheriff of Jackson county and a former merchant, died suddenly at his home at Gay of a heart attack on Saturday morning. His death came as a shock to the family and to his many friends throughout the county. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Gay E.U.B. church with the Rev. H. L. Roush officiating and the burial was in the Parsons cemetery. The Vail undertakers were in charge of the arrangements. Born Feb. 10, 1889 at Gay, a son of William H. and Louisa Casto Morris, he was a member of the Gay Methodist church and the IOOF lodge. He was a life-long resident of Gay, and for 37 years was a school teacher in the Jackson county schools. Surviving are his wife, the former Orlie B. Rhodes, whom he married June 7, 1914; five sons, Edsel and Ayward, Charleston, Edgar, Dunbar, Kenneth and Keith, both at home; six daughters , Mrs. Glenva Randolph, Ripley, Mrs. Ruth Skinner and Mrs. Dorothy Johns, Gay, Mrs. Ruby Ferguson, Evans, Mrs. Eleanor Myers, Dunbar, and Miss Janet Morris of Chicago; one brother, Ova Morris of Gay; three sisters, Orpha Casto, Given, Mrs. Della Chancey, Gay, and Mrs. Nellie Chancey of Walton; 15 grandchildren.
