  <p>Information: Samuel Edwin Balis, 78 of Sandyville, Jackson County died Friday in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley after a long illness.  He was a farmer.  Surviving: wife, Gatha Richards Balis; sons, Leon of Given, Delmas of Ravenswood, Curtis of Ohio, Ralph, Paul and Ronald all of Sandyville; daughters, Mrs. Bernice Taylor and Mrs. Susie West both of Sandyville, Mrs. Marie Lucky, Mrs. Patricia Lucky and Mrs. Leroan Balis all of Le Roy, Miss Kathy Balis and Miss Peggy Balis both at home; 18 grandchildren.  Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Parsons Funeral home, Ripley with the Rev. Lawrence Conger Jr. officiating.  Burial will be in Odaville Cemetery, Sandyville.  Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.</p>
