  <p>Information: James Elliot Armstead Jr., 46, of Ripley, died Thursday at the Jackson General Hospital after a short illness.  He was born in Roane County, a son of Camma Harper Armstead of Ripley, and the late James E. Armstead Sr.  He was employed at the warehouse sales as a sewing machine mechanic, a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the VFW Post No. 5501.
    He is survived by his wife, Sally Spraggins Armstead; two sons, Michael and Andrew Armstead, both of Texas, a stepson, David Rodgers of Thunderbird Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Amy Reynolds of Princeton, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Jean Pullen and Miss Tammy Sue Armstead, both of Ripley; and a grandchild.  Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Parsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. D. C. Guthrie officiating.  Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday.</p>
