Information: Ernest W. Rhodes, 86, of Ripley, died Sunday at the Riverside Nursing Home, Charleston. He was born in Roane County, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Rhodes. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a World War I veteran, had served in France and was a Purple Heart recipient. Surviving are his wife, Ella Ann Rhodes; one son, Marvin G. Rhodes of Charleston; one daughter, Ernestine Kneipp of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be today (Wednesday), 1 p.m., in the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Ronald Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.
