  <p>Information: Thomas Anderson Withrow was born January 6, 1845 in Putnam County, WVa and departed this life February 21, 1923 at his home in Evans, Jackson County, WVa, age 78 years, 1 month and 15 days.  He was a Civil War veteran, served in Co. A., 13th Regiment WV Infantry from August 5, 1863 to June 29, 1865.  He was united in marriage to Susan Arthur, February 15, 1856, to this union were born eleven children, his wife and six children have preceded him to the great beyond and five are left to mourn their loss, namely; Charley Withrow of Stubenville, Ohio, Ada Myers of Evans, WVa; Rose Pringle and Katherine Smith of East Liverpool, Ohio and Mary Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio.  He was united in marriage to Samantha L. Shaffer May 4, 1886, to this union were born eight children.  His second wife and five children have preceded him to the great beyond, three are left to mourn their loss, namely: Sheridian of Youngwood, Pa; William of Cleveland, Ohio and Russell.  He leaves two half brothers, Christopher and Frank Withrow of Raymond City, WVa and a host of friends.    Uncle Tom was a kind loving husband and father and was liked by everyone who knew him.  During his long illness and suffering everything was done for him that loving hands could do.  His sufferings were never too great but what he could shout and praise his holy name offer up a prayer of thanks for the many bessings which he received.  He informed his children and friends that when the end came he was ready to meet his God.  Burial was in Otterbein Cemetery.         (From handwritten copy--Ada Ruth Sayre Obituary Collection)</p>
