Obituary Date: 1940-01-05

Information: An anticipated Christmas Day of joy was turned into one of gloom at the home of James Wiseman at Kanawha Two Mile when their two months old granddaughter, Mary Virginia Wiseman, was found dead in her bed.  The child's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wiseman, had gone to the home of the child's grandparents on the Sunday prior to Christmas to spend the holidays.  They placed the little child in her bed on Sunday night and there was no sign of sickness.  The following morning they found her dead.  Coroner C. F. Sayre, of Kanawha County, was called and said that in his opinion the child had died of an acute intestinal ailment.  The Wiseman family formerly lived at Kenna where the funeral services were held the following day at the Hickory Grove Church and burial was in the church cemetery.  Rev. Hobson D. Fisher was in charge of the service.  In addition to the parents and the grandparents named above, the child is also survived by the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Vannoy, of Chandler's Branch.  [Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
