Information: William (Oley) Whiting, 87, of Ripley, died Thursday in Jackson General Hospital.  He was a retired school teacher in Jackson County and member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley.  He was a veteran of World War I, member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW Club, and member of the American Legion. Surviving:  sons, Dallas D. of Charleston, Ronald of Evans; brothers, Holley and Alva, both of Ripley; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.  Services were held yesterday in Parsons Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Eaton officiating.  Burial was in Fairplain Cemetery, Jackson County.
