Information:                     Six year old Darrell Eugene Wheaton, in what has been described as an effort to help his partially blind mother in starting a fire in the kitchen stove at the family home near Silverton last Friday just before noon, lost his life and the family home was destroyed by the fire in which a brother, John, received severe burns on the forehead and the mother was burned on the arms and hands.  The home and all household goods were destroyed by the blaze.  Funeral services were held from the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Ravenswood Monday afternoon with Rev. Robert Hughes officiating and burial was in the Ravenswood Cemetery.  He is survived by his father, Clarence Wheaton; his mother, Gertrude Pease Wheaton; three sisters, Berrell, Merrell and Ireta, and one brother, John, all at home.  (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
